Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an Occupational Therapist with at least 2 years of long-term care experience for a skilled nursing opportunity with weekday daytime hours in Alaska.
Responsibilities
- Position located in a skilled nursing and long-term care rehabilitation setting
- Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm
- Treats patients of all ages, including pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Focus on evaluation, planning, and administration of occupational therapy modalities
- Rapid Response Crisis position
- Responsible for evaluation, planning, and directing occupational therapy treatments as prescribed by a physician
- Oversees the development and implementation of the LTC activities program
- Provides recommendations and direction to the restorative nursing program
- Conducts assessments, develops care plans, and assists with discharge planning including home modifications
- Documents patient progress, maintains confidentiality, and participates in team meetings
- Housing is provided for this assignment, though pets are not allowed and couples/pairs are not accommodated due to workload
- Must be familiar with state and federal regulations for critical access hospitals and LTC facilities
Requirements
- Valid Alaska state license to practice as an Occupational Therapist required if applicable
- Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program with a BS or MA/MS
- Minimum 2 years of direct patient care experience, including strong background in geriatric long-term care
- Current BLS certification required
- Professional demeanor, excellent communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively
- Experience with LTC RAI/MDS is an asset
- Ability to perform basic computing skills such as email, word processing, and spreadsheets
