Job Description

American Traveler seeks a Physical Therapist with at least 1 year of experience for an acute care hospital setting, requiring an active Arizona license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities
  • Work in a short-term acute care hospital with teaching and Level IV trauma designation
  • Assigned to the PT Acute Care Hospital unit with an average daily census of 11 patients
  • Work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with no on-call requirements
  • Weekend shifts are required as the department operates seven days a week
  • May float to surrounding clinics and other units within the hospital based on census and skill set
  • Patient population includes moderate to maximum assist and ventilated patients
  • Co-treatments and managing additional evaluations throughout the day may be expected
  • Cerner is used for charting; prior experience with Cerner is recommended
  • First-time travelers are welcome for this position
  • Return travelers are ineligible if they canceled a prior contract within 10 days of the start date
  • Approval from the unit manager is required for any requested time off beyond five days or if time off is during holidays
  • Must be able to work two out of three major holidays, with no time off permitted during the first week of assignment due to orientation
  • Business casual attire is required instead of scrubs
  • Parking is free on site
  • Onboarding includes mandatory modules during the first week of orientation
  • Assignment length is 13 weeks
Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year recent experience as a Physical Therapist in an acute care setting
  • Current Arizona PT license required, must have in hand prior to start; license required if applicable
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required
  • Ability to confidently manage medical diagnoses and perform co-treatments
  • Comfort with handling moderate to maximum assist patients and working with ventilated patients
  • Flexibility to float between units and clinics is required
  • Two professional references required, one from the most recent employer within the past year, and another within two years
