Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and strong tele strip interpretation skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in an acute care hospital on a 49-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit
- Patient population includes CHF, respiratory, GI, diabetics, COVID, telemetry, post-cath, and total joint replacement cases
- Nurse to patient ratio is 1:5
- Night shifts (7pm-7am) with every other weekend required
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Christmas, New Year's, Thanksgiving)
- Floating may be required to East Campus or PCU if qualified
- Uses Cerner EMR, with Cerner experience recommended
- Navy blue scrubs required
- RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips and signing once per shift
- One shift of unit-specific orientation provided due to limited training period
- Support provided by charge nurse, house supervisor, and nurse aides
- No titration of drips required; only set-rate Diltiazem/Cardizem drips managed
- No call or standby requirements
- Candidates must not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
- Applicants must live at least 50 miles from the facility
- Pass/Fail test on sterile technique will be administered on the first day of orientation
- Candidates who fail required testing twice will be excluded from consideration for 6 months
- Self-scheduling available but finalized by the manager
Requirements
- Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
- Active BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to contract signing
- Ability to interpret and sign telemetry strips at least once per shift
- Comfortable with BiPap, CPAP, breathing treatments, and care for total joint replacements
- Must provide a copy of driver’s license for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
