All nurses going to below units will be required to complete 15 minute proctored exam to assess basic EKG competency during orientation at the hospital. - Unit: ER - # beds/trauma bays: 14 treatment areas with plans to expand - # Psych/seclusion rooms: No - # patients per day: avg 75 per day but sometimes they can see up to 140 per day - Certs: NIHSS, ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP preferred, TNCC preferred - Ratios: 1 to 4 - EMR: Cerner - Charge Nurse: No - Nurse Aides/Paramedics: ER techs - EMT's - Security/Patient sitters: use techs as needed, security is nearby when needed in the lobby - Weekend Requirement: every other weekend - Holidays: they will rotate in with core staff rotation - Scrub Color: navy - Tele/Monitor Techs: unit clerk - no designated monitor tech, nurses will read and interpret strips - Vents: yes - ED Physicans/Mid-Levels: MD's and mid-levels used on staff - Lab Draws: RN's are not allowed to draw labs - IV Team: No - RT 24/7: Yes - Pharmacy 24/7: No - they are on call after hours, they are on 8 hr shifts - Shifts: 12 hr shifts - 7-7, 10-10, 12-12, 2-2, and 7p-7a - Floating: yes - to Marian ER - Floor specific orientation: 3 shifts - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: 15 % peds, stroke, ortho, abd pain, anything and everything, trauma is stabilized and transferred ASAP - Additional Notes: must have 2 years ER experience, travel experience is preferred, hospital does not have L&D, peds, or NICU
