Position: RN – CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room)
Shift Details:
- 8-hour Day shifts
- Start: 6:30 AM (occasional 11 AM start)
- EOW (every other weekend)
- First to float
- 40 hours/week guaranteed
- Contract: 14 weeks
Unit Information:
- 10 OR rooms total:
- Room 1: Neuro cases
- Rooms 4 & 7: Total joint implants
- Room 5: Major vascular
- Room 6: Hearts (directly across from Cath Lab)
- Room 10: Robotics
- Remaining rooms: General surgeries, GYN, urology, plastics
- Average: 30 cases/day across 10 rooms
Common Cases: CABG, valve replacements, TAVR support for Cath Lab, trachs, thoracotomy, VATS, pericardial window, sternotomy, pleurodesis, neuro, total joints, vascular, hearts, general, GYN, urology, plastics, podiatry
- Not performed: Ophthalmology or bariatrics
Required Certifications:
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
Experience Required:
- Minimum 3 years CVOR RN experience
- Experience titrating meds, assisting perfusionists, drawing labs, assisting anesthesia with lines
- Experience setting up IV meds and programming pumps
- RN scrubbing not required (scrubbing done by techs)
Support & Structure:
- Charge Nurse: Permanent coverage weekdays; RNs rotate for charge on Mondays/when needed
- OR Techs: Scrubbing done by techs, first assist by RNFA
- 7 Nursing Assistants (turnover, equipment, transport)
- 2 Anesthesia Aides (support anesthesia)
- Surgery schedulers M–F, 7 AM–5:30 PM; RNs schedule surgeries after hours/weekends
Scheduling & Call:
- One weekday off per week
- Call: 2–3 times/week
- Weekend Call: Every 3rd weekend (Fri–Mon 6:30 AM)
- Weeknight Call: 2 PM – 6:30 AM
- Holiday Call: Rotating with CVOR team
- Call Response Time: 30 minutes
Other Details:
- Orientation: 1 week general, 1 week unit (flexible)
- Scrubs provided by hospital
- EMR: Cerner
- License: Must be active at submission
