*No first time travelers* ***agency provides traveler with rad badge*** - Unit: Cardiac Cath Lab -Basic EKG interpretation test assigned during orientation. Critical care RNs (ED/ICUs/PICU) will have more than just the basic interpretation test (like those included in the STEMI curriculum and Procedural Sedation curriculum assigned to them). - # of Suites: 5 Suites: 2 suites primarily for coronary cases; 1 suite - peripheral cases; 1 suite - vascular & neuro cases; 1 suite for EP cases (electrophysiology) - Cases/day: Varies anywhere from 10 - 22 cases per day total - Types of cases: Cardiac/Coronary, Vascular, Peripheral, General IR (interventional radiology), EP & Neuro intervention. All perm staff cross-trained in each area. Travelers will not be cross-trained; however must have current cath lab experience. Must be comfortable with conscience & moderate sedation, procedural processes, airway management, cardiac drips, such as Integrilin, dopamine, & vasopressins, as well as balloon pumps. Scrubbing not required. - Certs: BLS & ACLS, and NIHSS (MUST BE THROUGH AHA) - Licensure: Current CA RN License - EMR System: Cath lab documentation is Merge, Hospital is Cerner. - Techs/Support Staff: Cases are done with 2 techs (1 scrubs & 1 monitors hemodynamics, etc…) RN does conscious sedation. Sometimes there will be a 4th person…could be an RN or a tech, depending on the case. There is also a 'Lead Tech' that is responsible for making the room assignments. - Hours/Shifts: 4x10s (or until cases are done) Start times vary, between 0630 & 0730 - Weekends: Not open on the weekends; however, see info regarding 'call' - Call: They are a STEMI (ST Elevated Myocardial Infarction) Center. They are not open on weekends; however, rotate 'call' for inpatient cases, urgent and emergent cases, etc...Ends up being 1X/week & 1 weekend/month. Weekend call runs from Friday evening trough Monday am; however, this is subject to change depending on the needs of the unit. - Scrub Color: Provided by the Hospital - Floating: No
