Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an Occupational Therapist with home health experience and a valid OT license for adult patient care in a self-scheduled day shift role.

Responsibilities
  • Home health setting providing skilled care in Sarasota and Charlotte County
  • Adult patient caseload including med/surg, cardiac, orthopedic, post-surgical, neuro, and respiratory cases
  • Skilled home visits with a minimum of 6 points per day, which may increase per management discretion
  • Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Self-scheduling based on HomeCare office needs
  • Patients include a variety of diagnoses such as COPD, CHF, pneumonia, CVA, falls, Parkinson's, trauma, and more
  • Use of BayCare Forms, BayCare Scheduling, Ace Timesheet documentation system, and portable technology including laptop, MiFi and portable printer
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • Travelers may float within hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
  • Key responsibilities include patient assessments, developing and implementing home exercise programs, splinting, feeding techniques, joint mobilization, and patient/family education
  • Adult caseload covers orthopedic, cardiac, and neurological diagnoses, including complex comorbidities
  • OASIS training preferred for documentation
  • Attendance at pass/fail EKG exam required, with up to 3 attempts allowed
  • Required to pass annual and pre-start modules, averaging 4 hours
  • Solid color scrubs required
  • Facility operates smoke free
  • Return staff must have completed a previous contract and be separated for at least 1 year; only allowed in specified specialties
  • Candidates must live at least 100 miles from the facility
  • RTO must be arranged directly with the unit manager; no advance RTO accepted in contract
Requirements
  • Active Florida OT license or compact OT license required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of independent home health OT experience required; 2 years preferred
  • Must have valid driver's license and access to a reliable car for home visits
  • Must be COVID vaccinated or have an approved exemption on file
  • Flu vaccination required or approved declination with mandatory mask use
  • Ability to perform lifting and patient transfers
  • License required if applicable
