Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with at least 2 years of recent ICU experience and a current IL RN license for a Level 1 Trauma Center contract.

Responsibilities
  • Position is based in the ICU of a hospital with Level 1 Trauma accreditation
  • Nurses will float between multiple ICU units including Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, and Neuro ICU, and may assist on MS units if required
  • Schedule consists of 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) with every other weekend required
  • No block scheduling or special requests allowed for shift selection
  • Mandatory floating policy that may include floating up to 50 miles to other facilities with up to 2 hours' notice
  • Orientation and precepting shifts occur during day shift hours in the first week
  • Cerner is used for charting; experience with Cerner is helpful
  • Must be willing to float to any ICU unit and, if needed, to Med/Surg units within the facility or up to 50 miles at any associated facility
  • Team-based model used when floated outside primary area of competency
  • Strict compliance policy, including lab work to be completed within 72 hours of assignment acceptance
  • First week follows a structured orientation schedule
  • Navy blue scrubs required and not provided
  • Parking is available for $2 per day at the Juvenile Temporary Detention Center, with shuttle service every 15 minutes
  • Maximum of 5 days RTO allowed, no more than 2 consecutive days, no RTO on weekends or adjacent to holidays, and no holiday RTO
Requirements
  • Active IL RN license required at time of application; pending licenses are not accepted
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care ICU experience required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required
  • Proof of COVID vaccination required prior to start; booster not required
  • Must reside within 75 miles of the facility to be considered local
