Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and at least two years of recent L&D experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital Labor & Delivery unit with approximately 200-300 births per month
- Night shifts available, typically 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
- Patient caseload includes high-risk pregnancies, multiple gestations, VBACs, preterm labor, pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, and various delivery interventions
- May float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals, primarily to provide OB-specific care
- On first shift when floating to affiliate hospital, arrive 30 minutes early for rapid orientation
- Uses Cerner EMR for all charting
- Responsibilities include NSTs, external and internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration, labor and delivery interventions, IV and medication administration, blood transfusions, postpartum care, newborn assessment and care
- Must be skilled in high-risk delivery assistance, C-section recovery, administration of magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, Pitocin, prostaglandins, and antihypertensives
- Holiday coverage required for at least 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Modules must be completed pre-start as part of onboarding
- Not accepting local candidates; IN residents considered local and not eligible for this contract
- Any previous perm or PRN employees must have a 12-month gap before applying as a traveler

Requirements
- Active IN or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum of 2 years recent Labor & Delivery RN experience required
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- AWHONN Intermediate course required (may be completed prior to start)
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Cerner EMR experience required
- L&D travel nursing experience required
- Must provide two supervisor references
- Not accepting first-time travelers
