Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for an outpatient role focused on orthopedic and geriatric populations, requiring BLS and a Louisiana license.

Responsibilities
  • Outpatient therapy setting specializing in orthopedic and geriatric cases
  • Average daily census of 25 patients shared among 2.5 therapists
  • Typical caseload of 8-12 visits per day
  • Day shift; Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
  • No call required
  • Assignment length is 13 weeks
  • Not open to local candidates—must reside at least 65 miles from the facility
  • Must be willing to participate in emergency team coverage during hurricane situations, with potential requirement to remain at facility during storms
  • Expectations for flexibility in role assignments during hurricane season (June 1-November 30)
  • Five-day orientation provided, including completion of required modules
  • Unit is open to first-time travelers
  • Must not have worked at the facility as a permanent staff member or in-house agency contractor within the previous year
  • RTO must be discussed during the interview to be considered
  • Scrub or dress code requirements not specified
Requirements
  • Current BLS certification required (AHA only)
  • Louisiana PT license required; Compact PT license accepted if applicable
  • License required if applicable
  • Minimum of less than 2 years' experience accepted; new graduates are not considered
  • Experience with orthopedic and geriatric patient populations preferred
  • Must apply for Allied Health licensure within 72 hours of contract signing if not already licensed
  • Two manager or supervisor references required for contract clearance
