Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. **Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care- refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract **Driver's license required at submittal and will be used to determine if candidate is outside 50 miles.** * * RN's - Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation. OPEN BOOK exam on skills learned - they are given all necessary resources to pass. Must receive a 90% to pass or they will be terminated * * Department: Med Surg ICU RN *Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS* - # of Beds: 34 - Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:1-2 ICU, 1:4 PCU - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Adults and Peds >15 years old, Neuro surgery (initiating neuro interventionalist with thrombectomy program) - not required exp., Respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock (impella, balloon pump - not required exp.), renal failure (CRRT) - not required exp., general surgery, psych/OD, GI bleeds, cancer specific surgeries - esophagectomy, internal chemo administration, CVPs, Alines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring- all can train real time, Zoll -Thermoguard for hypothermia protocol, Bell Mont rapid transfuser - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, antiarrhythmics - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes- will attend RRTs and Codes - Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes- 1:18 - RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: Nasal cannula to vents - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: No techs- Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry monitoring. RNs need to be able to read and interpret. - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 0630-1830, 1830-0630 // manager will make schedule based on unit needs - Weekend Requirements: Every other - Holiday Requirements: Every other or as needed for based on unit needs - Floating Requirements: Will float to all inpatient units, excluding Maternity/NICU - Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy Blue - How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2 shifts - Additional Notes: Fast paced unit with volume flexes due to being primary tertiary hospital for the system. Attributes that will make a nurse successful on this unit are the ability ask questions, a positive attitude, willingness to help others, critical thinking skills, personable, and positive attitude. Have a team environment meant to foster high quality care and work with attendings and student providers (fellows, residents) to collaborate on care. RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
