Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ED RN with a NM or compact RN license, at least two years of large ED experience, and the ability to pass onsite BCA testing.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a large, fast-paced hospital Emergency Department
  • 12-hour night shifts from 18:45–07:15, three days per week
  • Floating required between departments or to local locations within 20 miles
  • Patient care provided to diverse populations typical for a high-volume ED
  • Epic EMR experience is preferred but not required, with onsite training available
  • Responsible for direct patient care, assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation in the ED
  • Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and coordinates patient care with families
  • May supervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel
  • Required to complete population, age-specific, and protocol education as per department standards
  • Not open to local candidates; must live more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Returning permanent staff must wait one year before being considered for a traveler position
  • Employment contingent upon passing the BCA exam administered during orientation

Requirements

  • Active NM or compact RN license
  • Minimum of two years recent experience in a large Emergency Department
  • Successful completion of at least one prior 13-week travel assignment
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS all current and from appropriate providers (AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross)
  • Must pass onsite Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) testing within the first week, with only one retest opportunity
