Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ED RN with a NM or compact RN license and at least two years of large emergency department experience.

Responsibilities
  • Position is in the Emergency Department of a large hospital setting
  • Care is provided for diverse emergency patient populations in a fast-paced environment
  • 12-hour night shifts with a schedule of three shifts per week
  • Floating between departments and local locations within 20 miles is required
  • Epic EMR experience preferred but not required; onsite training is available
  • Responsibilities include direct patient care, administering medication, and collaborating with the healthcare team
  • Must coordinate care with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff
  • Responsible for supervising LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel as needed
  • Candidates with previous permanent employment at this health system must wait one year to be eligible for consideration as a traveler
  • Candidates are required to complete all unit-specific education, competency testing, and orientation
  • First day includes BCA testing; second failure in test results in contract termination
  • Scrub or dress code requirements to be provided during onboarding
Requirements
  • Active NM or compact RN license required
  • Minimum of two years recent experience in a large Emergency Department required
  • Must have completed at least one 13-week travel assignment
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS (all through AHA, American Health and Safety, or Red Cross), and NIHSS
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
  • Must successfully pass a Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test onsite during first week, with a maximum of one retake allowed
  • Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
