Job Description

The Medical Imaging Technologist, under the direction of the Medical Director and/or Section Head, the manager, and Radiologist, performs technical procedures and assists in the clinical evaluation and care of patients. This role utilizes specific modalities to create diagnostic images and provide patients with a safe and positive experience. In radiation-producing modalities, technologists practice and enforce radiation safety measures according to New York State Department of Health code.

Responsibilities

• Maintain competent imaging skills in practicing modality.
• Practice in compliance with hospital policy and New York state standards.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to age and special characteristics.
• Create a safe and positive experience for patients.
• Support teaching and continue learning as technology changes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Associate degree in Applied Science - required.
• Diploma in X-Ray - required.
• Graduation from an approved professional academic imaging program - required.
• ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Registered upon hire - required.
• New York State registration or limited permit to practice upon hire - required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification upon hire - required.
• Previous Level 1 Trauma experience preferred.
• Experience with Radiologic Technology Students, rotations, and engagement preferred.
