Job Description: Night Shift PCU/IMC Registered Nurse

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced PCU/IMC Registered Nurse for a night shift position in a mixed acuity unit. The successful candidate will have a strong background in telemetry and medical-surgical patient care. This role involves managing patients with various medical and surgical diagnoses, requiring proficiency in telemetry and critical care nursing.

Shift Details

• Shift: Night 4x12-Hour (18:45 - 07:15)
• Ratios: 1:3-5 for days and weekends; 1:3-6 for nights
• Contract Duration: 91 weeks
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in PCU/IMC within the last 3 years
• Must possess NY state nursing license
• Experience with the following skills:
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Management of IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
• Care and management of IVs, including PICC lines, central lines, and blood products
• Post-operative care for surgical patients
• Management of cardiac drips (no titration)
• Administration of medications and adherence to protocols
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS preferred; PALS is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Trauma Level I or II facilities
• Familiarity with TCAR procedures

Unit Details

This is a mixed acuity unit focusing on PCU, MS Tele, and surgical patients. It accommodates a diverse patient population, including pre and post-op surgical cases from ENT, general surgery, trauma surgery, orthopedic surgery, and overflow medical diagnosis patients. The facility utilizes EPIC for documentation and medication management.

Additional Information

Staffing may require flexibility as nurses can be floated to sister units. Training orientation will last 12 hours, focusing on the core responsibilities and procedures within the unit.
