Night Shift Registered Nurse (BLS & MS/Tele Required)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Night Shift Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. This position requires expertise in various critical care environments, including telemetry and progressive care units. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing patients with complex medical conditions and will be required to fulfill essential nursing duties with a focus on evidence-based practices.

Shift Details

• Shift: Night 4x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)
• Location: City, State

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• Administer IV insulin protocols and titrate insulin drips
• Provide care for patients with feeding tubes and manage continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
• Conduct pre/post hemodialysis management and blood product administration
• Engage in central line and peripheral line care, including PICC line management
• Start IVs and follow heparin protocols
• Manage cardiac drips without titration
• Support patients during substance withdrawal and care for ventilated patients
• Handle chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), external CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and non-invasive airway management
• Implement isolation precautions and wound care, including wound vac management

Patient Population

Our patients primarily present with diagnoses such as:

• Acute respiratory failure
• Congestive heart failure (CHF)
• COPD exacerbation
• Pneumonia
• Sepsis
• Pulmonary fibrosis
• Interstitial lung disease (ILD)

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with a valid NY license
• Minimum of 1 year of recent nursing experience in a similar setting
• Experience with EPIC charting system is preferred
• First-time travelers are welcomed
• Flexibility to float as needed within scope
• Must be available for weekend shifts

Special Equipment and Support

• Familiarity with equipment such as BIPAP, CPAP, chronic ventilators, and chest tubes
• Access to interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams

Orientation and Training

• 4-hour orientation with modules to be completed prior to starting
• On-unit training to ensure comfort and preparedness
