Job Description

Position Summary

This is a 13-week contract position at the Acute Stroke Unit located in Rochester, NY. The unit specializes in the care of acute stroke patients and other neurological disorders, providing exceptional care during primary prevention and acute care phases of a stroke.

Shift Details

• Night Shift: 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)
• Day Shift: 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:00)

Patient Care and Responsibilities

The Acute Stroke Unit operates on an adjustable acuity delivery model, focusing on evidence-based care to optimize the management of stroke patients. Candidates must handle a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7 for MedSurg with 26 beds dedicated to patients post PCI, pacemakers, AICDs, and post-MI care.

Essential Requirements

• Current New York State license is required in hand, with no exceptions.
• At least 1 year of recent relevant experience is necessary.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, interpreting dysrhythmias, and managing emergency responses.
• Proficiency in IV therapy and phlebotomy, as well as peripheral line care and management.
• Knowledge of respiratory support including nasal cannula and portable oxygen tanks.
• Possession of BLS certification is mandatory.
• Experience using the Epic charting system is required.

Additional Information
