Operating Room RN
13-week contract
Location: Utica, NY 13502
Pay: $59.38-$63.33/hr (depending on experience)
Unit: OR
Shift: 7-17:30, 40 hours (Call required)
One day of call a week, one weekend/month
Floating: Yes
Scrub Color: Scrubs provided
Beds: 14- 10 OR, 2 Robotics
Common patient diagnosis: ENT, Ortho, Urology, General Surgery, Neuro, Podiatry, Plastic, and Trauma.
Qualifications:
Trauma and Neuro experience REQUIRED
ACTIVE NY Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
2+ years of experience in the OR
Bachelor’s or Associate’s in Nursing
EMR Experience REQUIRED: EPIC
Current BLS
PALS preferred
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations
Understanding of current cardiac care practices and protocols
Commitment to ongoing education and professional development
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology
Responsibilities:
- Preparing the operating room and ensuring all necessary surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are sterile and ready for use.
- Assisting the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments and supplies in a timely and efficient manner.
- Monitoring patients' vital signs and maintaining a sterile environment throughout the surgical procedure.
- Providing post-operative care and monitoring patients as they recover from anesthesia.
- Collaborating with the surgical team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Educating patients and their families about surgical procedures, post-operative care, and follow-up requirements.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records and surgical logs.
- Adhering to strict infection control regulations and hospital policies.
- Preparing patients for surgery, including the administration of necessary medications and preoperative assessments.
- Assisting with the transportation of patients to and from the operating room.
