Our Gastroenterology (GI) Unit specializes in caring for patients with a wide range of GI and hepatic conditions, as well as those recovering from endoscopic and GI surgical procedures. Nurses on this team provide both acute medical management and post-surgical care, while supporting patients and families through treatment and recovery.

You’ll gain hands-on experience with:
• Caring for patients with GI bleeds, liver disease, pancreatitis, Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis
• Managing patients before and after endoscopic and GI surgical procedures
• Administering and titrating IV therapies, blood products, and specialized drips
• Monitoring and managing patients with advanced GI and hepatic conditions
• Providing patient and family education on disease management, nutrition, and lifestyle support

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course
• Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required. NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required.
