As a Trauma Registrar you will play a critical role in ensuring the a ccuracy of the data collected in accordance with state and national mandated regulations to support Novant - New Hanover Regional Medical Center maintain their Trauma Center status.
What You’ll Do
Schedule - Monday - Friday, daytime hours.
Perform data abstraction and collection from the electronic medical record, data entry into the trauma database, and statistical data reporting of all trauma patients.
Work collaboratively with Trauma Service staff to maintain efficient data reporting, support performance improvement initiatives, and ensure regulatory compliance with trauma standards.
What You’ll Need
Required:
High School Diploma or GED.
Completion of AIS Coding Course, Trauma Registrar Course and ICD-10 Course within 12 months of hire.
Ongoing completion of continuing education, with a minimum of 12 hours annually.
Working knowledge of medical terminology and basic anatomy and physiology.
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Basic data entry and computer skills.
The ability to work in a team setting.
Preferred:
RHIT, CPC, CCA or CCS licensure.
Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAAISS) licensure.
Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR) licensure.
Associate Degree in Health Information Management or Medical Coding.
Trauma Registry or other health related experience such as: LPN, EMT, CNA, RHIT, or Medical Coder.
Working knowledge of AIS Injury coding.
Working knowledge of ICD-10 coding.
Previous use of EPIC electronic medical record system.
