Job DescriptionA skilled RN is needed for a Medical Surgical/Oncology unit focusing on inpatient care. The ideal candidate will have expertise in various nursing procedures and a strong background in managing medical-surgical patients.
Responsibilities- Provide care for adult and geriatric patients with general medical-surgical diagnoses and oncology history.
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, including chemotherapy and biotherapy.
- Perform nursing procedures such as accessing ports, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, and wound care.
- Monitor patient status and advocate for patient needs effectively using standard communication protocols like SBAR.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Float to similar units or alternate care locations as needed, including inpatient holding.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an inpatient setting, preferably in Med/Surg and Oncology.
- Experience with colostomy care, surgical drains, chest tubes, and monitoring chemotherapy.
- Current BLS certification required; OCN certification preferred but not mandatory.
- Must possess a valid nursing license; NC or Compact license pending is acceptable for submission.
- Charge nurse experience preferred.
