Job Title: Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse

Shift: Day 5x8-Hour (06:45 AM - 03:15 PM) Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures and be well-versed in a range of cardiac technologies and medications.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years
• Licensure: Current NC or Compact license required by start date
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Skills:
  • Diagnostic Cardiac Cath lab experience
  • Interventional Cardiac Cath lab procedures
  • Cardiac Stent Placement
  • Diagnostic and Interventional Catheterizations
  • IABP Placement/Removal
  • Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
  • Starting IVs and IV therapy

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience with advanced procedures such as:
• ASD Closures
• Cardiac Implant Closure Device
• Impella insertion
• Rotablator atherectomy
• Transcatheter Aortic Valve implantation/Replacement (TAVI/TAVR)
• Vascular procedures knowledge including angioplasty and dialysis graft interventions.
• Experience in patient care with adult and geriatric populations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all aspects of cardiac catheterization procedures.
• Monitor patient status during and after procedures.
• Administer sedation and emergency medications as necessary.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide optimal patient care.
• Maintain patient safety and adhere to infection prevention protocols.
• Document and communicate patient information effectively in the electronic health record (Epic preferred).

Unit Details

The cardiac cath lab consists of:

• Patient Ratio: 1:1 (caseload of 3-4 cases on scheduled days)
• Shift Type: 5x8 Days (0645-1515)
• Call Requirement: Rotating call every fifth weekend and one day during the week
• Weekend Requirement: None
• Special Equipment: Impella, Penumbra, EKOS, Roto, Ultrasound, Shockwave, and ACIST.
• Orientation: 16 hours

Special Procedures / Patient Diagnoses

Patients referred to the Cath Lab may present with a variety of cardiovascular diagnoses including:

• Coronary artery disease
• Stable and unstable angina
• Heart failure
• Valvular and congenital heart disease
• Pulmonary hypertension
• Pericardial disease
