Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position requiring a ND or compact RN license and current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications.
Responsibilities
- Work in the ICU of an acute care critical access hospital
- Unit has 4 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2-3 depending on acuity
- Night shifts are 12 hours, 7 PM to 7 AM, with weekends and holidays as needed
- Patient population includes DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac cases, medical detox, art lines, and CVP
- RNs are required to titrate a variety of drips typical of ICU care
- RN is responsible for reading and interpreting their own telemetry strips
- Equipment includes nasal cannula to vent and the use of Meditech EMR
- Floating to Med-Surg or ER (for 1:1) is required
- RNs must be capable of coaching, teamwork, and identifying unsafe situations
- There is no charge nurse assigned; the ER is in charge of ICU
- No nurse aides or patient care techs are present on the unit
- Navy scrubs are required for this assignment
- Up to 3 days (12-hour shifts) of department-specific orientation provided
- Travelers are first to float as needed
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates cannot have been employed by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
- Requested time off must be submitted up front and is limited to 7 days or less per 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active ND or compact RN license required at the time of consideration
- Minimum 1 year of ICU RN experience required
- Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications required
- TNCC, TCAR, or demonstrated experience with the care of trauma patients required
- Ability to pass fit testing; facial hair must not interfere with respirator fit
- Professional references: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years required
- Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
