American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Tele/Swing unit in an acute care setting requiring a ND or compact RN license and competency with telemetry and respiratory equipment.

• Work in an acute care hospital on the Med/Tele/Swing unit caring for both acute and swingbed patients
• Patient population includes individuals with pneumonia, rehab needs, COPD, CHF, pancreatitis, and GI bleed
• Unit has 19 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:3 to 1:6
• Shift length is 12 hours, with night shifts and every other weekend and holiday required
• Scheduling uses a team-based approach with possible self or block scheduling
• Required to float to Med/Tele Acute, Observation, and Swingbed units as needed
• No on-call responsibilities are required
• Uses Meditech EMR system
• Telemetry monitoring with Mindray monitors; RNs are required to read their own strips
• Required to set up and be competent with BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow Nasal Cannula equipment
• RNs may be part of the code team on the unit
• Support staff includes one CNA per shift who handles personal care, vitals, and weights
• No designated charge nurse on each shift
• RNs must provide their own scrubs in any color
• 3–4 orientation shifts are provided at the start of the assignment
• Positive unit culture with strong teamwork and support
• Up to 7 days of requested time off may be approved per 13-week contract; further time off is not allowed
• First-time travelers will be considered for this role

• Active ND or Compact RN license in hand; pending licenses are not accepted
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum of 1 year of recent nursing experience in Medical/Surgical or Telemetry settings
• Experience with IV starts, telemetry, NG tube and Foley insertion required
• Ability to set up and manage respiratory therapy equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, and HFNC
• Applicants must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Cannot have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year
