Job DescriptionThe Registered Nurse will function within the Health System's mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures, assuming responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients during their shift. The RN will be involved in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using age-specific criteria, making judgments based upon scientific knowledge and clinical skills. The RN will also assist in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff.
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using age-specific criteria.
- Lead and guide non-RN staff, including LPN/PCT and Unit Secretaries.
- Manage chest tubes and other drainage systems.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients, specifically those with radial and femoral access.
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythm strips and respond to changes in cardiac rhythms.
- Assist with various procedures and equipment, including chest tube removal and the management of temporary pacers.
- 2+ years of nursing experience.
- Experience in post-operative open heart care.
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring.
- Advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA).
- Ability to float to all units within skill level.
