Emergency Room Registered Nurse

Days 0645-1915

This position provides professional nursing care based on current nursing knowledge through the use of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) standards. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, developing a plan of care, implementing nursing interventions, and evaluating patient care outcomes for patients from neonate to geriatric age populations. This role is subject to scheduled on-call assignments as necessary due to community event influences on Emergency Department patient volumes.

• Triage every patient entering the emergency care system and determine priorities of care based on physical and psycho-social needs.
• Develop and implement a plan of care based on ongoing assessments, ensuring supplies and equipment are readily available.
• Manage complications and emergencies per established policies and procedures, recognizing changes in patient health status.
• Document and act on patient responses to interventions, facilitating competent medical care.
• Implement health education for patients and families, assisting them with accurate information on health status and discharge planning.

• Current Pennsylvania RN licensure.
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification (renewed every two years).
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider ACLS certification (renewed every two years).
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider PALS certification (renewed every two years).
• Valid National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
