Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position requiring a WA or compact RN license and strong telemetry skills.
Responsibilities
- Position is in an acute care hospital setting on a Med/Surg Telemetry Nursing Float Pool unit
- 32 beds with patient ratios typically 5:1, may increase to 6:1 during inpatient boarding
- Floating required between all Med/Surg, PCU, ED boarding, and temporary bed locations
- Work schedule is night shifts, 12 hours, from 1900-0730, with every other weekend required
- Utilizes Epic EMR system with provided Epic training
- Telemetry monitoring is required and nurses are responsible for reviewing strips
- Common patient populations include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, ETOH withdrawal, kidney issues, dementia, and CVA
- Specialized drips used include Heparin, Cardizem, Insulin (not DKA protocol), and narcotics (comfort care)
- No ventilator management required
- Support includes a charge nurse and 4-5 nurse aides per shift
- RN is responsible for comprehensive care including medication administration, monitoring drips, and telemetry oversight
- Full support with around-the-clock hospitalist, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy services
- Floor-specific orientation provided based on assignment location
- Weekend and holiday shifts required as scheduled
- Nurses may wear any professional colored, patterned, or styled scrubs per dress code guidelines
- Candidates who have been employed full time, part time, or PRN by facilities associated with this health system within the past year are not eligible
- Close observation may include camera monitoring
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience required
- Certifications required: BLS and ACLS; NIHSS preferred, not required
- Experience with telemetry and reviewing strips required
- Ability to float to multiple units including Med/Surg, PCU, and ED boarding areas
- Professional references: one supervisor from the last 12 months, one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and eligibility for rehire
- Copy of a valid driver’s license required for consideration
