Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Room RN for a night shift position at an off-campus ED, requiring a WA or compact RN license and strong ED skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in an off-campus emergency department setting with 10 ED beds and 7-10 hallway spaces
- Patient population includes neonates through geriatrics, with approximately 25% pediatric cases, as well as cardiac, neuro, GI, respiratory, psych, walk-in trauma, and gunshot wounds
- Expected patient ratios are 1:4, with fast track areas at 1:6
- RNs manage ventilators and BiPAP due to no RT onsite; ventilator and BiPAP training is provided during onboarding
- EMR: Epic (experience preferred)
- Shifts are 12-hour nights; schedule may include every other weekend with flexibility on start times
- Assignment to a primary site with expectation to float to other OCED locations as needed, including mid-shift floats
- Responsibilities include delivering care across the full ED patient spectrum, managing airways and ventilators, and occasionally serving as charge RN with onsite training
- Support staff includes LPNs, with phlebotomy support; RNs handle most blood draws
- No respiratory therapist or on-site pharmacy; RNs manage ventilators and medication mixing
- Orientation includes hospital overview, on-unit education, respiratory training, and telemetry competency evaluation
- Scrub colors are flexible and parking is free
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Up to 5 days of time off may be approved; requests for more than 5 days require management approval
- Holiday coverage expectations are negotiable
- Both medical and religious exemption requests for vaccines are accepted
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of true ED experience (any trauma level); CAP positions require 5 years minimum experience
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIHSS, TNCC
- Strong emergency nursing, medication administration, chest tube, central line, and IV skills required
- Telemetry competency exam must be completed and passed before start of assignment
- Must be able to mix own medications with pharmacy video supervision
