Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist with at least 2 years of home health experience and active state licensure for a 13-week assignment.
Responsibilities
- Position is based in a home health setting serving post-acute patients in South King and Pierce County
- Covers areas including Burien, Tukwila, Kent, Federal Way, Tacoma, Lakewood, and Puyallup
- Typical caseload is 4-5 patients per day
- Common diagnoses include CVA, ALS, MS, and various levels of dementia
- Work schedule is Monday to Friday 8am-5pm or Monday to Thursday 8am-6pm
- No weekend or holiday shifts required
- Electronic charting is done using Epic
- Role involves conducting assessments and developing care plans for adults with neurological and cognitive disorders
- No weekend or holiday work is expected for this role
- Dress code allows for scrubs or business casual attire
- Department provides a two-week orientation
- Returning candidates may not have been directly employed by the health system within the past year unless employed PRN through an outside firm
- Recent experience with Epic EMR is necessary for daily documentation
Requirements
- Active state or compact (NLC) Speech-Language Pathology license required for consideration; pending licenses will not be accepted
- Minimum 2 years of recent home health experience as a Speech Language Pathologist
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- CCC-SLP is preferred but not required
- Experience with dysphagia/swallow assessments as well as cognitive and aphasia care
- Background in rehab SNF is helpful if applicant does not have significant home health experience
- Driver's license required if applicable
- Must provide 2 professional references: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
