Job Description: Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Details

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team on a 5N Oncology unit. This night shift position offers either 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, requiring availability on weekdays and every other weekend.

Contract Information

• Start Date: November
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Possible Extension: Yes

Shift Details

• Shifts: Nights (7 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Patient Ratios: 1 Nurse to 5-6 Patients
• Orientation Hours: 12

Required Qualifications

• RN License (WV or Compact License - Pending License Accepted)
• Minimum 2 Years RN Experience Required
• Certifications Required:
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS
  • ONS Chemo/Bio Certification (preferred)
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred

Skills & Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

• Administer chemotherapy and blood products
• Manage patient care, including acute tumor lysis syndrome and side effects of cancer treatments
• Transition patients between care settings and educate patients and families about treatment plans
• Perform IV therapy, including starting IVs and managing central lines
• Handle cytotoxic spills and dispose of hazardous waste according to protocol

Unit Details

• 12-bed inpatient oncology unit with med/surg overflow
• Support from interdisciplinary teams, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy
• Daily patient census of approximately 10
