Job Description: Night Shift Registered Nurse

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our MedSurg unit on a 12-hour night shift. The ideal candidate should be committed to providing high-quality patient care and possess the flexibility to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.

The MedSurg unit consists of 52 private rooms, with a nurse-to-patient ratio predominantly of 1:7 during both day and night shifts. The charge nurse will also have a full patient assignment but is supported by a Clinical Assistant.

• Required Certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Preferred Certifications: ACLS
• Experience: Familiarity with MedSurg, post-operative care, and peritoneal dialysis is highly preferred.

• Shift Type: 12-hour nights (1845-0715)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (3 weekends out of a 6-week schedule)
• Holiday Rotation: Work into the holiday schedule

• Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, and implementation of nursing interventions.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members, including Hospitalists and Intensivists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Participate in unit activities and provide support to nursing aides and clinical assistants.
• Utilize electronic medical records (Allscripts - Sunrise) for patient documentation.

The unit primarily cares for patients with a variety of diagnoses, including post-operative orthopedic and neurological cases, infections, and various medical conditions such as COPD and pneumonia.

COVID testing procedures are in place, and patients awaiting results may remain on the unit. The IV team is available 24/7 for IV insertions.
