Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology position requiring recent Epic experience and strong skills in oncology and telemetry.
Responsibilities
- Work on the 6th and 7th floors of a hospital in a Med/Surg and Oncology setting
- Patient population includes medical/surgical and oncology/neutropenic patients
- Patient ratios are 1:5-6 on Med/Surg and 1:3-4 for primary care or chemo administration with support staff
- Uses EPIC for charting
- Shift is 12-hour nights with every other weekend required
- Required to float between 6th/7th floors and to any ThedaCare facility within a 60-mile radius as needed
- No on-call or call-back responsibilities
- Holiday rotation is required
- Responsible for care of patients with varying acuity, including high acuity on the 7th floor
- May be assigned to administer chemotherapy and utilize ports for vascular access
- Support staff are available to assist with patient care
- Unit beds include 15 on the 6th floor and 21 on the 7th floor
- Missed shifts must be made up within two weeks of absence
- No first-time travelers will be considered for this assignment
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license
- Current AHA BLS and ONC certifications required; AHA ACLS preferred
- Minimum of 3 years RN experience and at least 2 years Med/Surg experience required
- Experience with M/S and oncology/neutropenic patient populations required
- Competency in cardiac telemetry interpretation required
- Proficient in port utilization, chemotherapy administration, BiPAP/CPAP, and initiating/titrating heparin and insulin drips
- Recent Epic charting experience within the past 2 years required
- Must have completed at least one previous travel contract
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from ThedaCare Corporate Center in Neenah, WI
