Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Critical Care Float RN with experience in multiple ICU settings, a WI or compact license, and proven adult Level 1 Trauma experience.

Responsibilities
  • Work in a Critical Care Float pool supporting several ICU specialties, including Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU, Burn ICU, and Trauma Surgery
  • Primary assignment is in adult ICU units with potential for IMC/Progressive/General care coverage as needed
  • Position is at an academic Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Scheduled for day/evening shifts, both 8 and 12 hour shifts (typically 7:00 to 19:30), with every other weekend and some holidays required
  • Travelers will be the first to float and may be assigned to multiple units or locations as staffing needs change
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Main responsibilities include providing advanced critical care and floating between multiple ICU units as needed
  • Must pass a telemetry exam before starting; two attempts allowed, with strict passing criteria
  • One week orientation provided upon start, with department specific schedules
  • Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility; locals are not accepted
  • Holiday and weekend coverage is required as per unit guidelines
  • First-time travelers may be accepted in select units
  • Parking requires a permit or using alternative transportation options
Requirements
  • Active WI or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required, must be through American Heart Association
  • Minimum two years of acute care RN experience within the last three years in critical care specialties
  • Previous experience working in an adult Level 1 Trauma Center required
  • Basic arrhythmia experience is required and must pass a telemetry test prior to starting
  • Completed at least one 13-week travel assignment
