Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry/Step Down position requiring strong cardiac experience and an active WI or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes post-op CABG/Valve, thoracotomy, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacemaker, defibrillator, ablations, acute chest pain/MI, and med/surg overflow
• Typical patient ratio is 1:4 in a fast-paced, high turnover environment
• Shifts are 12-hour days from 07:00 to 19:30
• Float to all inpatient units as needed
• No on-call required, but travelers may be placed on call during low census hours
• Weekend and holiday work required every other cycle
• Uses Epic EMR with recent experience required
• Candidates must be resilient, able to manage change well, and work independently in a dynamic environment
• The unit can be fast-paced with high patient turnover, requiring effective task completion and strong time management skills
• Allowed to wear scrubs of any color
• Travelers may be placed on call during low census periods, with call-back pay if needed
• Orientation week may not provide guaranteed hours
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Must have at least one completed travel assignment
• At least 1 year of strong recent cardiac experience in Cardiac SDU, intermediate cardiac, or cardiac ICU
• Minimum 2 years of recent IMC, PCU, or telemetry experience required
• Experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips is mandatory
• Must be able to pass an EKG test during the first week of hire
• At least 1 year of recent Epic charting experience required
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
